Yoshitoshi Kanemaki – Memento Mori

Japanese artist Yoshitoshi Kanemaki uses Japanese wood carving techniques to create giant sculptures from large blocks of camphor wood. Each sculpture impressively stands anywhere between 5 and 17 feet tall. His characters are fused with death, looking as if they are either burdened with it or embracing it, truly embodying memento mori on a massive scale.
